1) Scottish researcher and doctor, David Walker of Lanarkshire, is proposing a tax be placed on chocolate, just like alcohol and cigarettes, due to its important role in causing obesity. Though often considered a special treat, Walker insists chocolate can be dangerously addictive for most people. I tend to eat mine in wafer form…perhaps this doesn’t count.
2) “Hija de Palin se separó” which translates into: Sarah Palin’s young unwed daughter who was going to be forced to marry for sake of her mother’s political career has now separated from her young hockey-playing lover / baby’s daddy. This is such big news, it traveled 7,000 miles to Montevideo and made the daily headlines.
3) More than 50,000 people assisted the stadium Centenario last night and enjoyed the 3-0 victory of Nacional of Uruguay (YEAH!) against River Plate of Argentina (BOO!). According to the Observa, “it was a victory that invites dreaming,” because with it, Nacional is now leader of its group in the Copa Libertadores. I dawned a Nacional jersey and refrained from joining the children to my right who were taking advantage of the lively atmosphere to shout obscenities when their parents weren’t listening.
In other news, a nest of baby birds is living in our sky light.
